It was cold in New Mexico on New Year's Day. Single digits when we awoke; in the twenties later in the day. There was also a brisk wind blowing when I shot this picture. The sound of the wind blowing through the sage brush added to the sense of BARRENness.
Cold and barren, glad you braved the elements to share this.
ReplyDeleteI love how the trail/road leads us out to nothing...very barren...but what a cool image!
ReplyDeleteBrr. But boy does my mind want to follow my eye down that trail Linda!
ReplyDeleteLove the leading lines of the track makes it for me.

Even though its barren, it makes you look at the colors that we do see. Many shades of brown and blue, yellow/orange. Its always amazing how nature combines its colors.
ReplyDeleteWish I were there! I love the desert. This shot shows the beauty in the barrenness.
ReplyDeleteIt may be barren but that's what I love about the vistas of the Southwest. That and the blue skies, which you captured so well!
ReplyDeleteWonderful image...straight out of a Coen brothers movie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sky and the mountains in the distance make one want to follow that road. Fun to see your blog as my husband's brother lives in Albuquerque.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely barren and yet there's hope for what's to come. Love the photo.
ReplyDeleteThat road leading off to nowhere really underscores the theme. Nice shot!
ReplyDeleteI especially love the road too, not too busy it looks...
ReplyDeleteWe were in New Mexico this September--so different from the green and rolling hills of New England--such a stark beauty. I love the foreverness of the landscape.
