THEME: BARREN (Post #2; Day #1)

It was cold in New Mexico on New Year's Day. Single digits when we awoke; in the twenties later in the day. There was also a brisk wind blowing when I shot this picture. The sound of the wind blowing through the sage brush added to the sense of BARRENness.

  5. Even though its barren, it makes you look at the colors that we do see. Many shades of brown and blue, yellow/orange. Its always amazing how nature combines its colors.

  7. It may be barren but that's what I love about the vistas of the Southwest. That and the blue skies, which you captured so well!

  9. Beautiful sky and the mountains in the distance make one want to follow that road. Fun to see your blog as my husband's brother lives in Albuquerque.

  13. We were in New Mexico this September--so different from the green and rolling hills of New England--such a stark beauty. I love the foreverness of the landscape.
